Overhead Conveyor System
Automated production line conveyor
The PowCEQ overhead conveyor system for powder coating moves parts through every stage of an automated line on a single continuous track, from load station through pretreatment, the spray booth, and the curing oven, with no manual transfer between steps. It is built for finishing shops and OEM production lines that have outgrown batch work and need predictable throughput, consistent dwell times, and fewer hands touching the parts. The track is engineered to your floor plan, the hangers carry real production weight, and the system runs as the backbone that ties separate coating stations into one synchronized process.
Load capacity and line speed
Each hanger is rated to 500 lbs (225 kg), so the system handles everything from light brackets and railings to heavy structural fabrications and machine frames without re-fixturing between runs. Track length is fully custom, laid out to match your building, your station count, and the dwell time your powder and substrate require. Line speed is adjustable from 2 to 20 ft/min (0.6 to 6 m/min), which lets you tune oven cure time and booth coverage to the part mix on a given shift. Slower speeds suit thick sections and high-build coatings that need longer time at temperature; faster speeds clear high volumes of lighter parts. The result is a measured, repeatable cycle instead of the variability that comes with manual carting.
Continuous flow through every stage
The defining feature is uninterrupted movement. Parts hang once at the load station and stay on the same carrier until they reach unload, passing through wash and pretreatment, the application booth, and the cure oven in sequence. Removing the manual transfer between stages cuts handling damage, keeps fingerprints and contamination off cleaned surfaces, and holds spacing constant so every part sees the same booth coverage and the same oven profile. Indexing stays even, which matters most at the oven, where inconsistent dwell is the usual cause of under-cure or over-bake. For a shop moving from a manual batch process, this continuous flow is the single biggest gain in finish consistency and labor efficiency.
Control and operation
The drive runs on 480V three-phase power and is speed-controlled so operators can set and lock line rate from a central control point. Variable speed means you dial in the exact feet-per-minute a job needs and the system holds it across the full shift, keeping booth and oven timing in step with the conveyor. Because the track speed governs dwell at every station at once, a single setting coordinates wash time, application window, and cure duration together. This removes guesswork from the operator's day and makes results repeatable from run to run, shift to shift, and operator to operator. Planning the budget around drive, track, and station count is something our guide, Powder Coating Line Cost: What $50K, $500K, and $2M Systems Actually Include, breaks down in detail.
Integration and layout compatibility
The conveyor is the structural and timing backbone of the line, so it is engineered around your existing or planned equipment rather than forcing a fixed footprint. Custom track routing accommodates straight runs, turns, vertical rises and drops, and load and unload zones positioned where your workflow needs them. Hanger design and spacing are matched to your part geometry and to the throat opening of your booth and oven. Whether you are building a new line from bare floor or adding automation to stations you already own, the layout is planned so booth, oven, and pretreatment line up on a single synchronized path. Power, speed range, and load rating are specified to carry the heaviest parts your shop runs.
Where it fits in your line
The overhead conveyor sits at the center of a complete PowCEQ coating line and connects every other stage into one flow. Upstream, parts enter through the pretreatment line for cleaning and surface prep before they ever reach powder. The track then carries them into the coating booth, where your spray guns and powder feed center apply the finish, and continues directly into the curing oven for a controlled cure at full line speed. Because the conveyor sets the pace for all of it, sizing the booth, oven, and pretreatment to the same throughput is what keeps the line balanced. If you are specifying these stations together, pairing the conveyor with a matched booth, gun package, feed center, and oven from the start avoids bottlenecks and gives you one coordinated automated line.
