Automatic Spray Gun
For reciprocator mounting in automated coating lines
The Automatic Spray Gun is a powder gun built for unattended production, mounted on a reciprocator or robot and driven by integrated PLC control rather than held by an operator. It is made for continuous automatic operation across multi-shift production, where the same coating result has to repeat thousands of times without manual intervention. If your volume has outgrown hand spraying and you need application that runs as steadily as your conveyor, this is the gun that turns a booth into an automated coating stage.
PLC control and repeatability
The gun is driven by an integrated PLC that sets the kV, powder output, and pattern width. Putting these parameters under programmable control is what makes automated coating repeatable: every part sees the same charge, the same powder volume, and the same spray pattern, shift after shift, with no drift from operator fatigue or judgment. For a production engineer, this is the core value of the gun, because consistency across long runs is what keeps reject rates low and finish quality predictable when no one is watching each part.
Continuous automatic operation
The gun is designed for continuous automatic operation, meaning it is built to run through full production shifts rather than in short manual bursts. This suits multi-shift plants where the line runs long hours and the application stage cannot be a point that needs constant attention. Running continuously and automatically also means the gun's output is synchronized with conveyor speed and part spacing, so coating happens in time with the parts arriving rather than at an operator's pace.
Mounting and motion
The gun mounts on a reciprocator or a robot. A reciprocator sweeps the gun vertically across parts as they pass on the conveyor, covering the full height of the work with an even pass pattern. A robot adds more degrees of freedom for parts whose geometry needs the gun to follow a more complex path. Either way, the motion system carries the gun through a programmed trajectory, and the PLC-set pattern width is matched to that motion so coverage stays uniform across the part. This combination of programmed motion and programmed spray parameters is what removes operator variation from the application.
Scanner and part detection
The gun is compatible with 2D and 3D scanners that detect part geometry as it approaches the booth. Geometry detection lets the system trigger the guns only when a part is present and adjust to the part's size and shape, rather than spraying continuously into empty conveyor space. This reduces powder waste between parts and helps tailor the coating pass to each part's profile. For mixed production where part sizes vary along the conveyor, scanner-driven triggering keeps both coverage and powder efficiency under control automatically.
Where it fits in your line
The Automatic Spray Gun is the application stage of an automated finishing line, mounted inside an automatic powder booth where its overspray is captured by the booth's cyclone or cartridge recovery and returned for reuse. Upstream, a pretreatment tunnel cleans and prepares parts so the coating adheres; the scanner detects each part as it enters the booth, and the PLC drives the reciprocator-mounted gun to coat it to a set recipe. Downstream, the conveyor carries coated parts into a curing oven, where the powder cross-links at the usual 180 to 200 C range. Reclaimed powder feeds back through a sieving center to the gun, closing the loop. Size the gun count and reciprocator stroke to your part height and conveyor speed so coverage stays even at production pace.
