Fast Color Change Booth
For operations switching colors multiple times per shift
The Fast Color Change Booth is a spray cabin engineered specifically for operations that switch finishes often and cannot afford long changeover downtime. Its defining capability is a color change in under 10 minutes, which makes it the right choice for high-mix production where a single line runs many colors across a day. If your bottleneck is the time lost wiping down and purging between batches rather than the spraying itself, this booth is built to remove that constraint.
Color change under 10 minutes
Every minute a line spends in color change is a minute it is not coating parts. By bringing changeover under 10 minutes, this booth lets you schedule short runs of different colors without the changeover eating into productive capacity. That changes what is economical to produce: small batches and frequent color swaps that would be impractical in a slow-to-clean cabin become routine. For planners building a production schedule around varied customer orders, this is the feature that determines how flexibly the line can be sequenced.
Plastic and hybrid construction
The booth is built from plastic or a hybrid construction, chosen because these surfaces clean fast and shed powder readily. Smooth plastic walls do not hold residual powder the way rougher surfaces can, so wipe-down between colors is quicker and more complete. This construction directly minimizes cross-contamination, the problem where traces of a previous color appear in the next finish and cause rejects. Keeping the previous color from carrying over is what makes rapid changeover trustworthy, because a fast switch is worthless if it ships the wrong shade.
Cyclone recovery and reuse
Powder is reclaimed through a cyclone separator, which spins overspray out of the air stream for recovery and reuse of up to 98%. The cyclone approach suits frequent color changes well: it can be cleared between colors more readily than systems that trap powder in media that must be swapped out and discarded for each new finish. Reclaiming up to 98% of overspray keeps material cost down even when you are running many short batches, where powder waste would otherwise multiply with every changeover.
Automatic guns and reciprocators
The booth works with automatic gun systems mounted on reciprocators, so the application equipment sweeps the parts consistently as they pass through. Automating the guns becomes more important in a high-mix setting, because it removes operator-to-operator variation when colors and parts change frequently. Reciprocator-mounted guns deliver the same pattern on the first part of a new color as on the last part of the previous one, which protects finish quality through every switch.
Where it fits in your line
The Fast Color Change Booth belongs in a high-mix finishing line directly after pretreatment, where parts are cleaned before coating. Because changeover is so quick, the surrounding stages should be sized to keep up: a powder center that can swap and sieve colors efficiently feeds the cyclone-reclaimed material back to the guns, and a curing oven downstream cross-links each finish at the usual 180 to 200 C powder cure range. Pair this booth with quick-change automatic or touchscreen spray guns whose recipes can be recalled per color, so the gun settings change as fast as the booth does and the whole line stays in step with the under-10-minute changeover.
