Powder Center PM2
For facilities running several colors per day with quick container swap
The Powder Center PM2 is a semi-automatic powder feed center for shops that run several colors per day and need color change to be quick without stepping up to full automation. It uses a separate plastic container for each color, so changing color is a swap rather than a clean. That single design choice is what separates the PM2 from a fixed-container system: instead of emptying and washing one hopper between colors, you exchange a pre-loaded container and get back to coating. For a busy multi-color schedule, that is where the working day is won or lost.
A container per color
The heart of the PM2 is its multiple-container approach, with one plastic container dedicated to each color you run. You charge containers ahead of the shift, keep them staged next to the line, and bring the next color forward when you are ready. Because each color lives in its own container, you avoid cross-contamination between colors and you remove the wash-out step that dominates color change on a single-hopper machine. Containers that are pre-loaded turn what used to be cleaning time into productive coating time.
Color change in about 10 minutes
Color change on the PM2 takes around 10 minutes, roughly half the time of a fixed-container PM1. The injectors are designed to drive out together as a group, which exposes them for faster cleaning and shortens the changeover instead of clearing channels one at a time. Combined with a fresh pre-loaded container, this gets the next color running quickly and keeps several changes a day from eroding your output. If you want to see how changeover minutes translate into recovered capacity and coating cost, our guide on PM3 feed-center color-change payback lays out the arithmetic across the range.
Capacity and feed
The PM2 supports up to 30 injectors plus feed, so it covers everything from a compact automatic booth to a multi-gun reciprocator line. As with the rest of the range, the practical setup task is matching injector count to your gun layout so film build stays even across the batch. The container-per-color design scales cleanly: add a container for each new color you introduce rather than rethinking the powder supply, which makes the PM2 straightforward to extend as your palette grows.
Built for a multi-color schedule
Everything about the PM2 is organized around colors that change often. Swapping containers instead of cleaning a hopper, driving the injectors out together for quick access, and staging pre-loaded containers all point at the same goal: cut the dead time between colors. It is the middle rung of the feed-center ladder, faster on color change than the semi-automatic PM1 and lower in cost and complexity than the fully automatic PM3, which suits shops that need speed without a fully closed-cycle system.
Where it fits in your line
The PM2 sits between your powder supply and your automatic guns, feeding a coating booth that handles several colors a day. Stage your pre-loaded containers beside the booth, keep them charged with the Powder Transfer Pump from bulk boxes, and run coated parts through to the curing oven downstream. If your shop lives on short runs and frequent color changes but does not need fully automatic reclaim, the PM2 is the balance point in the range, with a clear step up to the PM3 when color changes move to multiple times per shift on an automated line.
