Powder Center PM3
Fully automatic: 5-minute color change for high-mix production
The Powder Center PM3 is the fully automatic powder feed center in the range and the fastest on color change, built for automated lines that switch colors multiple times per shift. Where the PM1 and PM2 are semi-automatic and ask the operator to clean or swap containers, the PM3 runs a closed-cycle powder management system that reclaims, re-sieves, and recharges with no manual cleaning between colors. The result is the shortest changeover in the lineup and the least operator involvement, which is what high-mix production needs when every color change competes with throughput.
Fully automatic color change in about 5 minutes
Color change on the PM3 takes around 5 minutes, the quickest in the range, and it happens without an operator washing out a hopper or swapping a container. The system purges, cleans, and reloads as an automated sequence, so changeover time is consistent regardless of who is on shift. For a line changing color several times per shift, those recovered minutes compound into real coating capacity over a week. Our guide on PM3 feed-center color-change payback works through exactly how that time converts into output and cost recovery against a slower feed center.
Closed-cycle powder management
The PM3 uses a stainless steel container and an integrated feed pump as part of a closed powder cycle. Oversprayed powder is reclaimed automatically, re-sieved to remove agglomerates and contamination, and returned ready to spray, which keeps usable powder in the loop instead of going to waste. Automating reclaim and re-sieve also keeps powder quality consistent from batch to batch, because the conditioning step is built into the cycle rather than left to manual handling. The stainless container suits a system designed to clean itself out between colors quickly and repeatedly.
Capacity and feed
The PM3 supports up to 30 injectors and up to 24 pumps, so it drives wide automatic booths with banks of guns on reciprocators top and bottom. The integrated feed pump moves powder through the closed cycle, and matching injector and pump count to your gun layout keeps film build even across the full part. This is a feed center sized for production lines rather than single booths, and its capacity is meant to be paired with an automated conveyor and reciprocator setup.
Automation level
The defining feature of the PM3 is that it is fully automatic, not semi-automatic like the PM1 and PM2. There is no manual cleaning between colors and no container to swap by hand. That removes operator variability from color change and lets the feed center keep pace with an automated line, where stopping to clean a hopper by hand would break the flow. If your constraint is colors per shift rather than colors per day, the PM3 is the unit in the range built for that demand.
Where it fits in your line
The PM3 is the powder supply for an automated coating line, feeding an automatic booth with reciprocators and electrostatic guns while its closed cycle handles reclaim and re-sieve behind the scenes. Charge it from bulk using the Powder Transfer Pump, and run coated parts straight through to a curing oven sized for your conveyor speed. It is the top rung of the feed-center ladder, above the semi-automatic PM1 and PM2, and the right choice when frequent in-shift color changes and minimal operator intervention are non-negotiable.
